      REALTOR? Community Service Committee donates to Homes for our Troops

      Home prices in Taunton, MA - A market update, 3rd quarter of 2013

      For the 3rd quarter of 2013, we saw a minor decrease in the average sales price for single family homes that were sold and a modest increase for multi-family homes. Overall, sales are up! Most agents I know were all extremely busy during the time period covered in this report. Interest rates were still at historic lows and the carryover from the active spring market were the main contributing factors. Condos on the other hand did hold pace with the previous quarter on a unit sold basis, but, there was a decrease in the average sales price. As we're currently into the 4th quarter interest rates that had risen have now fallen again. The "shut down" of the Government may wreak havoc with some types of lending especially in real estate markets like Taunton where many buyers reply on FHA, VA, and Rural Housing programs. Additionally, issues with the IRS and SSA may add to delays for those who require any of the supporting documentation these agencies provide for lending purposes.
